Averil Kenny

Averil Kenny is an Australian writer, living in the lush, enchanted tropics of Far North Queensland.

Averil writes women’s fiction with an evocative flair, featuring strong, spirited heroines. Her love of literature, and our magnificent Australian landscape and wildlife, is captured in her storytelling. She is represented by Selwa Anthony.

Averil’s debut novel, Those Hamilton Sisters, was published by Echo Publishing an imprint of Bonnier Books UK.

When not dreaming up stories, Averil reads voraciously – curled in her favourite yellow wingback chair, sipping tea, in her library overlooking the rainforest. She loves hunting through op-shops for vintage typewriters, and rare or hard-to-find novels. Her best writing ideas come to her while running alongside the verdant creek.

Averil grew up on a farm and began work in the tourism industry at a young age. She studied Education at James Cook University and completed her Bachelor of Journalism at the University of Queensland.

She has four children, who have each inherited her passion for books and reading.
